VG2 Uchigatana

From Dudes Codex

The VG2 'Uchigatana' is a tactical nuclear missile manufactured by Tenshu-ICS. It is the second missile in the Kenjutsu range of guided armaments developed and manufactured by ICS in collaboration with Chiron Dynamics, and is considered the 'standard' weapon of this line. Its 'VG2' designation stands for "Vacuum, Guided, no.2".

The VG2 expands on the basic design established by the VG1, boasting increased propulsion and more sophisticated guidance systems. The addition of further thrusters grants it greater maneuverability, with the increased fuel consumption compensated for by a doubled tank capacity. Most notably, however, it is the first of the Kenjutsu range to feature evasive capabilities, which substantially increases its survivability against enemy point defences. Hence the VG2 can be fired on its own and still maintain a high chance of a successful intercept, even against well-defended targets.

The drawbacks of these improvements are a greater production cost and an increase in size: the VG2's spaceframe is too large for the Type 1 Koshirae fab/launch tube, so it can only be produced and/or carried in a Type 2 or larger.
