The VG1 'Wakizashi' is a tactical nuclear missile manufactured by Tenshu-ICS. It is the first and lightest missile in the Kenjutsu range of guided armaments developed and manufactured by ICS in collaboration with Chiron Dynamics, a fact indicated by its 'VG1' designation: "Vacuum, Guided, no.1".
The VG1 was designed as a minimum viable model for the Kenjutsu range, forgoing the more advanced systems boasted by its larger brethren in favour of a compact form factor and lower cost. It is fast-moving but lacks any evasion capability, making it vulnerable to enemy point-defence systems. As a result, its viability is limited to use in target-dense combat environments, saturation fire, or alongside the VM1 'Tanuki' decoy missile (or, of course, against undefended targets). Nevertheless, the Wakizashi is able to inflict devastating damage if it successfully intercepts its target.
