The Meles-class pod miner is an asteroid mining ship manufactured by Enax Industries. Designed for bulk ore extraction, it features a pod-based cargo system: unlike competing miner designs such as the Krot-class, which typically use internal cargo space and must therefore dock to offload extracted ore, the Meles fills an external cargo pod via an integrated pod cradle. When the pod is full, it can be removed and replaced via a tender vessel (typically a Samson-class tug). Working alongside a support ship carrying a supply of pods, the Meles can extract large quantities of ore without itself having to dock or return to base.
