The High Energy Spectroscope for Convenient Heavy Element Location (HERSCHEL) is a prospecting telescope developed by Ophiuchus. Designed to be mounted on a ship or station, the HERSCHEL incorporates both a visual-spectrum camera (for locating asteroids to scan) and a spectroscopy scanner for identifying ores present in the target asteroid. This enables long-range ore scanning without the need to physically rotate the entire ship, making it a useful tool for larger survey and mining support vessels.
